Team

Alisson

Alexander-Arnold – Van Djik- Lovren – Robertson

Henderson – Fabinho – Keita

Salah – Firmino- Mané

Goalkeepers and defenders

Alisson (5.5) – Oh boy. What a great GK. Experts claims he will provide LFC with 6-8 points more on the table. Against Napoli he showed why we chased him over the likes of Oblak. His passing skill is unmatched– unlikely, but i wouldnt be suprised if one of his passes far out to Salah would give him an assist over the season. Didnt get his stopping abillity tested vs Napoli, but from what we’ve seen in Roma theres no doubt that hes world class and justifies his RL pricetag. Recommended – Nailed on

Karius (5.0) – Highly unlikely, but the latest rumors is that the academy kids impressed Klopp enough to offload Karius along with Mignolet. Most likely 2nd keeper– 1st in cups. Great keeper as long as he doesnt play vs Ramos, or bump his head to hard. Not recommended – Backup

Mignolet (5.0) – Stay clear. He wants to leave the club. Club wants to sell him. Looks like Edwards want to offload him for £12m, but no club values him at that. Not recommended – Leaving the club

Robertson (6.0) – Picked up in the pre season where he left off in the prem. Work horse. BPS magnet. Best, or on par with Trent, as the best attack asset in our defense. Expect alot of assists. Versus Napoli he even showed signs of cutting into the box. With the addition of Fabinho it looks like our backs has gotten free reign to push even higher than last year. Highly recommended – Nailed on

Lovren (5.0) – Budget Van Dijk. Really stepped up his game and has not made any “big” mistake since the game vs Spurs in sept. 2017. I expect equal (aerial)goal threat and BPS from the pair(Lovren and Virgil). “One of the best defenders in the world” – Bullshit alone, but not so far from the truth when paired with Virgil. With Matip grabbing a new injury every other day and Gomez – albeit working hard – looking shaky… Lovrens spot as the 2nd CB is his to loose for the unforseeable future. Undervalued at FPL. Slight downside aboit Dejan is that he might rack up 4-5 YC during the season. Recommended – Nailed on GW2>

Van Dijk (6.0) – What a man. Great in every meaning of the word. Takes a huge spot both on the field as a leader and a defender. Future captain when Henderson eventually is phased out. Van Dijk is a “no stat star”. As in he’ll make everyone around him improve and pull their weight without pulling ahead on his own numbers(still, his number are impressive as fuck). Might get some headers during the season, but slighlty scared by the increased frequency of short corners in the pre season. Expect him and Dejan to be equal on goal threat. I’d grab Lovren over Virgil based on the £1m less, but will have another look at their underlying stats at GW10, or so for another comparison.Recommended – Nailed on

Gomez (5.0) – Was a BPS king as a RB when hes not injuried, or the front 3 doesent run away with all. Unfortunatly i think he lost his spot as first man on RB because of the injury. Suspect he’ll claw for Lovrens spot eventually. Has not impressed enough to take Lovrens spot yet, but hasn’t been bad either. Good backup CB. Unlikely to ever see him at RB again. Will most likely start in GW1. Not recommended – Backup

Trent Alexander-Arnold (5.0) – Bound to get alot of assits and the occational banger. Playing even higher than last season for the same reason as Robertson. His spot to loose as Clyne has not impressed in preseason. Undervalued by FPL. Essential If he gets to play consistently, but only recommended until that time. Recommended – Most likely nailed on

Matip (5.0) – Got a clip card at the local clinic. Sad, we all loved his runs down the middle and Dejan could have benefitted from more competition besides Gomez. Not recommended – Nailed on a pair of crutches

Klavan (4.5) – Esthonian Messi. Sub for the subs. Versatile – can play all 4 spots in the back if needed. Currently injured. Not recommended – Reserve

Moreno (4.5) – Brilliant attacking player, but has the tendency to create dangerous situation in the back at an equal rate as in the front. People over at /r/liverpoolfc wouldnt mind him as a back up for LM/LW instead of LB. If he sees playtime, he’s most likely OOP. Reminded us of another redhaired LB liverpool had years ago when he scored that banger vs Napoli. Grab him if Robertson picks up an injury– knock on wood. Not recommended – Backup

Clyne (5.0) – As previously stated, his comeback should be based on his preseson. He hasnt impressed at all, but great option as a backup to Trent. Used to get a fair share of YCs with the Saints and his first season as a red, but then suddenly stopped getting them. Not recommended – Backup

Midfielders

Salah (13.0) – From the guide; OOP striker thanks to Klopp and Firminos false 9. Will probably not set a new record(s) again, but it aint farfetched considering the addition of Keita to the team. Set and forget captain for the entire season.

This man. Oh boy what a player. Salah has shown no signs of slowing down or stopping in the preseason. Its like the team is built around him. With the addition of Fabinho, the backs can push higher so Salah can again can push higher and cut more into the box. With the addition of Keita and his brilliant unmatched packing skill(in short: getting the ball forward), his runs will only become even deadlier. With the addition of Alisson, Salah is even a goalthreat from keeperballs. Salah / Must have – Nailed on

Mané (9.5) – Picked up the where left off. Looking even sharper and more confident than the end of last season. Really looking dangerous. Expect this to be his best season in the prem so far. Looks likely to share/take over penalty duty, but not certain yet. Highly recommended – Nailed on

Wijnaldum (5.5) – Versatile player. Could play– and have proven he can play any of the midfield roles. Will make Henderson and Fabinho fight to keep their spot in the XI. Still tho– will only score a couple of goals and both of them at anfield. Not great for FPL. Likely to play every match, but from the bench. Not recommended – Impact sub

Milner (5.5) – Will take Hendersons spot in cups. Brilliant and versatile player. Peek physical form even tho hes the oldest in the squad. Can sub into any position in defence and on the midfield. Might get a YC here and there, but frequency has decreased by age(tho do remember that its only seasons ago he racked up 10 YCs in 28 matches). Not recommended – Potato

Henderson (5.5) – The captain of the team. Back to a position with more freedom than hes recently had thanks to Fabinho. Might grab a couple more assists this year, but he has also become a rotation risk thanks to Shaqiri, Wijnaldum and Fabinho. But what a captain tho… Everyone plays like they put in an extra gear when he’s on the pitch. Not recommended – Rotation risk, currently nailed on

Shaqiri (7.5) – What a guy. Never seen anyone adapt this fast to a team before. He is a Klopp player through and trough. /r/liverpool is split on this guy atm. Everyone loves him allready and his debut goal has become a legend, but is he good enough for the starting XI, or should he be kept soley as depth? Could be made possible if Klopp tries out a 4-2-3-1 formation, putting him in a 10 role and pushing keita slightly back, but that means pushing out the captain and using a formation Klopp hasnt used. He still prefers 4-3-3 in attack and 4-4-2 while defending, pushing Mané back to LM. Klopp has taken a liking of Shaqiri tho(poor Lallana) so keep an eye on him. Excellent player if he finds a spot in the XI. Not recommended – Squad depth – Keep on watchlist, will fight tooth and claw for a starting spot

Keita (7.5) – Our best player in the preseason. Will be a strong contender for player of the year. As someone once said; “Hes a younger version of Iniesta with the ball, and Kanté without”, add in Ramsey esque runs and you got Keita. If he doesnt pick up a deeper role i expect him to contest KDBs numbers. Highly recommended if that proves to be the case. Up to claim 8 YCs this year if he continues where he left off. Recommended – Nailed on

Lallana (7.0) – Very creative, but an injury risk. Slower than he used to be. If we lack creativity to break down a “lower” teams “bus”, he will get some playtime. Not recommended – Impact sub

Fabino (6.0) – As you’ve read above, this guy was needed. Opens up alot of new tactics and roles for his teammates. Might be on penalty duty eventually, but not likely. Looking at more YCs than Keita. Not recommended – Most likely nailed on

Firmino (9.5) – The perfect Klopp player. Hauls in BPS for you. Expect him to deliver the same results as last year, maybe a couple more goals for himself with the addition of Keita. Highly recommended – Nailed on

Solanke (5.0) – Versatile striker who can play as a winger and the 2nd striker behind the CF. I recently saw a chart over at our sub showing Solanke to have the highest xGChain(?) stat. If i understood it correctly it means Solanke is the player who is most involved attacks who end up as a goal per 90 min. Not necessarily a goal, or an assist, but involved in the attack. Preseason was exactly like last season for the boy. Like hes trying to copy Christian Bentley– creates alot of chances, but burns them all. We’re waiting for that one goal to open the floodgates. Keep an eye on him if he scores early. If he gets two quick ones, his instantly my third striker(for the bench at first). Remember he’s still only 20 years old. Not recommended – Regular sub

Sturridge (6.0) – What a man, what a player. I wish he never joined Liverpool because of all the heartbreak he causes. Fan favorite who constantly gives us hope, only to shatter it again, like his leggs. Our 2nd best player in preseason. Probably on cup duties, but would love for him to become a regular sub, maybe even starting some matches. Extreme value if he does, considering his pricetag. Not recommended – Backup

Ings (5.5) – Bids ticking in from everywhere. Essential for £5.5m if he joins a team outside the top 6. Imagine him next to Zaha… oh boy. Latest rumors are Newcastle. Great asset there aswell.
