Rotation: Chambers, Monreal and Mustafi
Goalkeepers
Leno (5.0) – Will start every league match unless injured. Shotstopper with good distribution who made 105 saves in 32 appearances last season. With a better defense in front he’ll be great, but Arsenal are quite uncertain in the back as it is. He is one of the better £5.0 goalkeeper options, however I’d rather save £0.5 and go for a £4.5 goalkeeper like Pope. Recommended – Nailed on
Martinez (4.5) – Second choice keeper. Not recommended – Backup
Defenders
Kolasinac (5.5) – Loves going forward, but can’t defend at all (unless the opposition got knives). His delivery isn’t too good either, but the amount of runs and the positions he gets in is great. Monreal is a real threat, as well as the rumored Tierney is making him a rotation risk. If he can nail down a spot he’ll be a great asset as he got 7 assist while only playing for half of the available minutes. Not recommended – Rotation risk
Mustafi (5.5) – A contender for the CB-spot next to Sokratis at the beginning of season, but most likely behind Chambers and will loose the spot to Holding if he isn’t. Not recommended – Backup
Bellerin (5.5) – started last season very well with 5 assists in 1532 minutes before suffering a very serious injury. If he can stay the same way he should make the defense more solid while also being able to contribute forward. Recommended – Nailed on
Monreal (5.0) – His minutes are on its way down and he is feeling his age. Will be a backup this season and will be a cover for both left-back and centre-back. Not recommended – Backup
Sokratis (5.0) – Should be playing the most in the back of the defense, a decent player. Doesn’t offer too much going forward and will get bookings. Avoid – Nailed on
Maitland-Niles (5.0) – Nailed on until Bellerin’s return. He should contribute a bit offensively and will get returns. Some hard matches, but if Bellerin is out long-term he’s a really great and cheap option. Recommended until Bellerin returns – Backup
Chambers (4.5) – Player of the year at Fulham at central midfield. Been redeployed at CB at Arsenal during the preseason and should keep his place unless playing awful as Mustafi hasn’t played well. This is until Holding returns from injury. At only 4.5 Chambers might be an excellent budget way into the defense of a top six team if he can get the spot instead of Mustafi. He rotates especially well with Leicester or Aston Villa. Recommended until Holding returns – Backup
Holding (4.5) – Will most likely be a bargain for FPL. He should displace Chambers (or Mustafi). He formed a good partnership with Sokratis before his injury and should be able to go back to it. Should return around mid-september. Recommended when fit – Starter
Midfielders
Pepe (9.5) – Record signing! Coming from AFCON should see him carefully stepping into the team. He was a great asset in France with lots of goals and assists and should be able to keep that up in Premier League. A high price combined with uncertain playing time in the beginning makes him a wait until he is totally nailed on. Wait – Nailed on
Ozil (7.5) – We all know what he is capable of, but he has har a very poor season last year and fell out with the manager. He isn’t nailed on unless he is showing the greatness from some years ago and will likely share minutes with Ceballos and Willock. If he gets in form he’ll be a great pick as he’ll be behind most of what Arsenal creates. Wait – Rotation risk
Mkhitaryan (7.0) – Poor season last year, a poor preseason and more competition for his place. Will most likely start for Pepe in the beginning, but no chance to keep the place and will become an impact sub. Not recommended – Impact sub
Iwobi (6.0) – Was in AFCON as well and with the arrival of Pepe he will be more of a rotation player and could even be moved back to a midfield three as opposed to his usual left wing position. Not recommended – Impact sub
Xhaka (5.5) – On set pieces when he plays, but fierce fight for the competition at the midfield with four players fighting over 2 spots. Plays as a deep lying playmaker and usually doesn’t get many returns from open play. Not recommended – Backup/rotation risk
Ceballos (5.5) – On loan from Real Madrid and have apparently been promised 40 games during the season. Able to play all over the central line in midfield and will be good if he can get the 10 spot instead of Özil, otherwise he’ll be a deep lying playmaker instead of Xhaka. Wait – Rotation risk
Nelson (5.5) – Won’t be a starter with all the competition for the places as he’s quite far from good enough. Will see minutes, but bar any shocks he won’t be starting many matches. Not recommended – Backup
Willock (5.0) – Great prospect for Arsenal and have impressed in preseason, but as with Nelson he won’t be starting too many matches and will mainly be an impact sub. Not recommended – Impact sub
Torreira (5.0) – Fighting for the position while getting several bookings during the season without too many offensive contributions means he’s a terrible fantasy pick. Not recommended – Rotation risk
Guendouzi (4.5) – Also a contender for a starting position in midfield. He’s a backup as of now, but will see quite a bit of minutes during the season. An ok 4.5 mid but there are better ones out there. Not recommended – Backup
Elneny (4.5) – Backup for the backup! Expect him to be sold or used sparingly. Not recommended – Backup
Forwards
Aubameyang (11.0) – Coming of a great season he has scored quite a bit in preseason as well. Hard to fit him in with the rest of the great premiums but should be on your radar when there is a lot of easier matches. If you can afford him he’s a great pick and should be easy to swap between him and Kane. The additions in midfield should make this a better season then the last one. Recommended – Nailed on
Lacazette (9.5) – Arsenal’s player of the season last year, but an injurydoubt for the start of the season. He’ll also be rested and isn’t as nailed on as Aubameyang who might take his place up top when the midfielders need some more playing time. If Aubameyang gets injured he’ll be nailed on. Will surely score quite a few goals but will be frustrating to watch. Wait – Rotation risk
Nketiah (4.5) – Been rumored to go on loan, but has impressed during the summer. Should rotate and thus get quite a lot of minutes if he isn’t going on loan. Not recommended – Backup
